I was having an interesting conversation with Ying Ku last Saturday. We were listening to the James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful.

Ying Ku: I don’t like the song.

anttyk: Why?

Ying Ku: Because I think it’s a very shallow song.

anttyk: Eh?

Ying Ku: How can someone meet another person for the first time and fall in love immediately?

Here’s an excerpt of the song.

And I don’t think that I’ll see her again, but we shared a moment that will last till the end.

I believe that in certain situations, time is irrelevant. That is, the impact certain situations create in the observer is independent of the duration or length of time. Magical life changing moments can be fleeting and pass in a flash yet have a profound impact on our lives.

Take for example you are sitting in a hot, dark room. A cute girl enters and immediately the room lights up. You cannot tear your eyes off her. Even if you stared at her for the whole duration of the night, the strongest or most effective memories would be that split second when you first caught a glimpse of the girl.

The poet William Blake wrote this profound thought two hundred years ago.

To see the world in a grain of sand,

and to see heaven in a wild flower.

Hold infinity in the palm of your hands,

and eternity in an hour.
