Book Review

Eyeris reads books all the time. His most recent review on Ursula Le Guin’s Voices can be found here.

Fire Angel recently reviewed (in her own special way) some dusty old high school books she dug out of her bookshelf. She also did a post on Roald Dahl’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More. Even Suanie’s hopped onto the book bandwagon. See here and here.

I am insanely jealous of these people. Why, you ask? The reason is very simple.

The only book I am allowed to read these days is intriguingly entitled: Certified Information Systems Auditor Review Manual 2006. Day and night -when I’m eating my lunch, driving around town, sleeping, watering the flowers, sitting on the loo, etc.

And, this is what the inside of the book looks like. 586 pages of dry technical writing – soulless and completely devoid of passion and imagination. No pictures. Not even big space-wasting tables. Trying to read this book without resorting to digging out your eyeball with a rusty blunt spoon and setting fire to it, is quite a challenge.

All you lucky people out there, who get to read whatever you want, whenever you feel like it, should move to another country and start learning the finer art of boiling your own heads.

  1. There, there… give me a book list I’ll get some for you for Feb 07? Does the promise of throwing books at your misery help?

    anttyk: Sniff. Helps a little.

  2. Doesn’t reading blogs count? Or are you a reverse snob :p

anttyk: Blogs are not books. Plus, I’ll have to give up on blogs as the exam date looms nearer. 😦

    anttyk: Heh heh.

  4. shite. CISA. the government should ban it for mental health reasons.

    anttyk: I strongly agree.
